West Lake Hills City Council took a step forward toward pursuing a bond in November 2018 for improvements to the city’s municipal building. Council approved Dec. 13 the posting of two requests for qualifications for financial adviser services and architectural services related to a possible bond. City Financial Officer Vonda Ragsdale said that when selected, a financial adviser will walk the city through the process of exploring financing a renovation project through a bond election. The city will have to decide by Aug. 21 whether to call a bond election in November 2018. The architect will create a design for a new joint municipal and police facility on the current city hall site. Mayor Linda Anthony said that although there are not many small cities that have gone through the bond process recently, West Lake Hills could look to the Travis County Water Control & Improvement District 10’s successful bond process in 2015 as guidance. To accommodate the upcoming holidays, the requests for qualifications will be posted Dec. 15 and will remain open for six weeks. City Council will review submissions in February.
