The city of Austin is in the process of developing a corridor mobility plan for Manchaca Road between South Lamar Boulevard and FM 1626. The plan will recommend improvements that may include separated and protected bicycle lanes; intersection improvements, such as signals, turn lanes and pedestrian crossings; additional sidewalks and curb ramps; transit-supportive improvements, such as connectivity to bus stops and transit priority signalization; and improvements along corridor segments that accommodate all modes of transportation. The goal of the Manchaca Road Corridor Mobility Plan is to improve safety, mobility and connectivity for all users—including residents who drive, walk, bike or use public transportation options. Development of the plan is funded through the 2016 Mobility Bond. Recommended improvements may be constructed as future funding sources become available. The city is soliciting feedback from the public on the plan through a variety of public meetings and online at www.austintexas.gov/manchaca.
Timeline: Public input began in November and will continue through next summer.
