The city of Austin is encouraging its residents to take a pledge to reduce traffic fatalities. The city's Vision Zero program aims to eradicate deaths or serious injuries caused by traffic accidents by 2025. As part of that effort, residents can now pledge to protect themselves, passengers and other people from dangerous road behavior, including the following:
  • Distracted driving
  • High speed
  • Driving under the influence
  • Improper movements
  • Failure to stop
  • Failure to yield
Austin Mayor Steve Adler took the pledge last week and nominated his colleague on the City Council, District 5's Ann Kitchen, to become the next Vision Zero hero. To take the pledge visit the city's website.
