First-responder agencies from across Central Texas will unite for the eighth annual Public Safety Day on Oct. 28, according to a news release from the city of Lakeway. The free event will take place from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at Lake Travis Elementary School, 15303 Kollmeyer Drive, Lakeway. Central Texas agencies will bring a variety of emergency response equipment for display, including helicopters, police cars, motorcycles, ambulances, fire trucks, rescue boats, all-terrain vehicles, K-9s, horses and wildfire mitigation gear. Public Safety Day was founded in 2009 to shine the spotlight on Central Texas first responders and their mission with a fun, educational event for the Lake Travis community, according to the city's release. The event gives the public a chance to interact with first responders outside of emergency situations to learn more about what the responders do and the tools and resources they use, according to the city.
