The Klein ISD board of trustees met Monday night to approve the fiscal year 2017-18 tax rate and recognize several personnel changes in the district. Here are a few highlights from the meeting:

1. The district welcomed two new administrators. Amber Snyder is the new director of special education. She was previously director of special education and campus support in Humble ISD. Linda Galicia was named the new principal of Ehrhardt Elementary School. She was formerly assistant principal of Zwink Elementary School.
2. Gene Shepherd, the managing director of the municipal team of RBC Capital Markets, retired Sept. 13. He had been financial adviser for the district since 1968.
3. KISD received a rating of 94 out of 100 from the Texas Education Agency’s Schools FIRST, or Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas, annual report. The system rates a district’s performance in the management of financial resources. A score of 94 is a “superior” rating, according to the TEA system.
4. The board adopted an FY 2017-18 tax rate of $1.43 per $100 of assessed property value. The adopted tax rate is the same as last year’s rate.
