Benefit Concert

As part of domestic violence awareness month, Sugar Land Town Square is hosting a Giving Spirits Concert to benefit nonprofits Fort Bend Women’s Center and Asians Against Domestic Abuse. Winnie the Pooh

Community theater, Inspiration Stage, will put on a youth production of Disney’s Winnie the Pooh. The beloved bear, along with his friends Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl go on an adventure to rescue their friend Christopher Robin from the fearsome Backson. Wining and Dining

Foodies can stroll through Sugar Land Plaza to sample dishes from participating restaurants who are competing to win “People’s Choice Award” and “Sugar Land Town Square’s Best Dish.” Attendees can also shop at retail booths while enjoying a live performance by R&B and jazz artist Yvonne Washington. Ticket sale proceeds will benefit the Fort Bend Junior Service League, a charity organization. Tickets: $10-$25. 15958 City Walk, Sugar Land. 4-7 p.m.

Public Safety Open House

Residents are invited to Fire Station No. 5 to meet and chat with the city’s firefighters and police officers to observe fire safety demonstrations. Families can learn how to put out pan and oven fires and how to use a fire extinguisher properly. In addition to face painting and an obstacle course, kids can dress up in fire gear and have their photos taken. Free. 5735 Commonwealth Blvd., Sugar Land. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Diwali Mela

Residents can celebrate Diwali at Constellation Stadium, enjoying a Bollywood display of dance, music, and fireworks. The Bombay Vikings will be performing popular hits live. Tickets: $10-15. 1 Stadium Drive, Sugar Land. 5-11 p.m.

Dragon Boat Races

Spectators can watch as rowers participate in the 14th Annual Gulf Coast International Dragon Boat Regatta, a spectacular showcase of Asian culture and history. In addition to the boat races, there will also be performances of tai chi exercises, kung fu, Chinese yo-yo, and dance. Free. 1 Fluor Daniel Drive, Sugar Land. Community Night Out

Missouri City is hosting its 2nd Annual Community Night Out at the city hall complex. Residents can relax for a night, dancing and enjoying performances by various musicians of different genres. Attendees can also enjoy food trucks, bounce houses, a rock climbing wall, face painting, and event booths. Free. 1522 Texas Parkway, Missouri City. 4 p.m.

Cultural Festival and Health Fair

Missouri City is hosting its first annual Cultural Festival and Health Fair, during which attendees can enjoy food, music, and art. The festival will also feature music by Conrad Johnson Orchestra and musicians Karen Briggs and Wayne Toups. Free Family Photo Day

Ashley Furniture HomeStore in Sugar Land will offer free photo sessions on a first-come, first-served basis to help families whose photos were damaged or washed away during Tropical Storm Harvey.
