The power will be turned off in parts of downtown San Marcos early Sunday morning as crews repair faulty underground high-voltage power cables. San Marcos Electric Utility officials said in a news release that electricity will be turned off at 3 a.m. Sunday and should be turned back on by noon. The news release said the outage affects 115 downtown electric customers as well at The Local downtown apartment complex and City Park. Hutchison Street will be partially blocked by electric utility equipment between LBJ and CM Allen Parkway, and traffic signals and streetlights will be out in the affected area. Temporary four-way stop signs will be set up at affected intersections. Drivers should use caution while traveling through the area.
