The Texas Department of Agriculture granted an extension to Spring ISD to offer free lunches to all students through Oct. 31. The free lunches began after Hurricane Harvey and had been scheduled to end on Sept. 29, school officials said. “We’re excited to be able to keep offering these free lunches to our students through the end of October,” SISD Child Nutrition Director Shelly Copeland said. “It’s one more way we can help out our district families, many of whom were affected by Hurricane Harvey and are still struggling to get their lives back to normal.” Free breakfasts are always available to all SISD students. Families that have not yet applied for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to apply online at www.schoolcafe.com. Paper applications are also available school offices in the district.
