Several Harris County Precinct 4 transportation projects are delayed by 30 to 60 days this fall because materials used for traffic signals and other improvements were needed for emergency repairs after Hurricane Harvey, officials said.

"It appears the most significant delays impact our traffic signal and intersection improvement projects," said Pamela Rocchi, director of the Precinct 4 Capital Improvement Projects Division. "Material acquisitions were reallocated to restore existing traffic signal systems damaged by Hurricane Harvey and associated flooding. Additional materials have been reordered for the proposed traffic signal improvements."

Here are several projects affected by the delays:

Traffic signal at Cutten Road at Vintage Preserve Parkway


A traffic signal system installation project began Aug. 7 with an original completion date of Oct. 7. The new completion date is estimated to be Nov. 7.

Construction cost: $436,688

Traffic signal at Hufsmith-Kohrville Road at Holderrieth Road


Installation of a traffic signal system and left-turn lane began Aug. 14 with an original estimated completion date in the fourth quarter of 2017. Construction is now expected to be finished in December.

Funding source: Harris County and the Tomball Economic Development Corporation.
Construction cost: $629,053

Gosling Road Segment 1 widening between Spring Stuebner Road and Mossy Oaks


The project to upgrade a two-lane asphalt roadway to five lanes between Spring Stuebner Road and Grand Parkway, and to four lanes between Grand Parkway and Mossy Oaks Road, began Oct. 3, 2016 with an original completion date of Sept. 27. The new contract completion date is Nov. 27. The need to acquire additional materials for the Mossy Oaks Road traffic signal added approximately 60 days to the original construction completion date.
