As emergency shelters across the city continue to take in Hurricane Harvey evacuees, businesses in Southwest Austin are offering free and discounted services to help storm victims adjust in the disaster's aftermath.
Blue Starlite Mini-Urban Drive-In is offering free movie passes to Hurricane Harvey evacuees through Sept. 16. The drive-in is kicking off its September film schedule with its annual Labor Day weekend movie marathon featuring film classics from the 1980s such as “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” and “The Breakfast Club.” Family-friendly films and activities will be hosted throughout the remainder of the month. D Pet Hotels Austin is offering evacuees a discount on pet boarding. Proof of vaccinations for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and bordetella is required. Referrals for discounted vaccination packages can be acquired through the facility.
The Southwest Family YMCA of Austin welcomes evacuees to use their facilities to shower, charge phones, have a cup of coffee or exercise for free. The Y offers a variety of exercises classes daily.
