Fort Bend ISD officials announced Thursday plans to delay the reopening of schools until at least Monday, September 11, according to a statement on the district's website. If district officials determine further delays are necessary, they will share that information as far in advance as possible.

Beginning Friday, the district will update its website to share the results of preliminary assessments of schools, and principals will be sharing details specific to certain campuses. The statement released by the district this week said some schools will take longer to clean and restore than others, so it is possible FBISD will not be able to open all the schools at once. If that is the case, district officials will inform the community in advance and will provide communication about when each of the schools is expected to open.
