As the Katy area recovers from Tropical Storm Harvey, Christ Clinic at 25722 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, will offer Tetanus vaccinations in partnership with
Clinic in a Can and
Heart to Heart. The clinic recommends that those who have been exposed to flood waters get the shot to prevent infection.
The clinic is accepting monetary donations but does not have any specific donation needs otherwise at this time said Beverly Allen, Christ Clinic Katy’s development manager.
Crosspoint Community Church, located at 700 Westgreen Blvd., Katy, is asking for diapers sized 5 and 6, feminine hygiene products, toilet paper, nonperishable canned foods, water, cleaning supplies, masks for cleanup, reusable bags, laundry detergent and bed linens and pillows.
Bethel Bible Fellowship, located at 25335 Fulshear Gaston Road, Richmond, is no longer accepting used clothing but is asking for new socks, underwear, pajamas and shoes.
First United Methodist Church is no longer accepting donations and is referring those interested in donating to bring items to the
Second Baptist Church at 6400 Woodway Dr, Houston. Second Baptist is in need of nonperishable canned food, cleaning supplies and personal hygiene items.
Volunteers are also sought at Second Baptist while the church keeps an updated list of needs on their
website. Those requiring assistance or looking to volunteer can sign up online.

Initial coverage of this story indicated that Christ Clinic was providing dialysis services to patients at the clinic. Christ Clinic is referring patients to other providers for dialysis services. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

As flood waters recede, Katy residents are looking for ways to contribute to those impacted by Tropical Storm Harvey. Some organizations are finding their own ways to help:
Christ Clinic Katy
Beverly Allen, Christ Clinic Katy’s development manager, said that the clinic is open at 25722 Kingsland Blvd., Katy, for extended hours as needed this week. Services include treating injuries, colds and infections and providing medication refills. The clinic can also refer patients to dialysis providers.
Allen said the clinic can assist if medications were lost or damaged during flooding. But the facility is in need of supplies including over-the-counter medications, children’s cold medicines, antihistamines and cortisone creams.
Monetary donations are accepted as well and can be made
online. Meanwhile,
Christ Clinic emphasized that residents in emergency situations should call 911 for faster assistance.
Clothed by Faith
The nonprofit organization is not currently accepting donations at their main location at 802 Dominion Drive, Katy, because the facility is full. Instead staff are asking residents to take donations to either Crosspoint Community Church, 700 Westgreen Blvd., Katy, or to
Bethel Bible Fellowship, 25335 Fulshear Gaston Road, Richmond.
However, Clothed by Faith is accepting monetary donations
online, where a link is embedded near the bottom of the webpage. Julie Pickett, assistant to the director of Clothed by Faith, said these will help the group buy items which are not being donated in large enough quantities or in sizes needed.
Crosspoint Community Church
Pastor Paul Goeke said that his church is receiving enough clothing donations to provide people with a week’s worth. But certain items are still needed including underwear, socks, men’s clothing, tennis shoes, flip-flops or sandals, and sanitary and hygiene items.
Crosspoint will create a pop-up store for evacuees to select free clothing. As a morale boost before they begin full recovery efforts, evacuees can chose items to match their personal style, Goeke said. The church is not currently operating as a formal shelter but is able to help those that come looking for a place to stay, he said.
“If there are evacuees who come here we’re taking them in, getting them clothed, [temporarily] sheltered and supplied — then connecting them with shelters or host homes,” Goeke said.
Katy Christian Ministries
The nonprofit's facility at 5510 First St., Katy, was damaged by flooding but the organization has partnered with First United Methodist Church at 5601 East Fifth St., Katy, to assist the public, according to First United Methodist worker Anita Powell.
Katy Christian Ministries currently needs baby toys, baby food, diapers, water, personal hygiene items, cleaning products, laundry detergent, bleach, work gloves and large trash bags. The goal is to give people what they need now and for when they begin cleaning their properties, Powell said.
Katy Christian Ministries is also accepting monetary donations through their website.
