Hurricane Harvey made landfall in coastal Texas Friday night and storms are projected to continue through Thursday. Here's a few things to keep in mind as you head out into the rain:

  • Nonprofit in urgent need of Type-O blood donors



We Are Blood, formerly The Blood and Tissue Center of Central Texas and the sole provider of blood to Central Texas hospitals, is experiencing a shortage of Type O-negative and -positive blood, a universal blood type that can be transfused to any patient. Blood will remain in high demand during times of critical weather and the upcoming Labor Day holiday, the nonprofit said.




  • Central Health will expand its services to Southeast Travis County


Last week Travis County commissioners approved a license agreement allowing Travis County Central Health Care District to expand its services to Southeast Travis County with the addition of a new clinic in Del Valle. The agreement would generate $7,800 for the county annually.

    Austin City Limits announces late-night shows


In anticipation for kick-off of Austin City Limits in just over a month, the festival's organizers announced late-night sets and a new festival grounds layout last week. Over 140 bands will descend on Zilker Park to perform at the 15th anniversary of the festival the first and second weekends of October.

Food truck Cazamance, formerly located in the Radio Coffee & Beer lot, relocated in early August to a lot on Manchaca Road. The menu features African-fusion fare with dishes such as a dakar lamb burger, yassa chicken and more.
