Recent Updates
1. Sessom Drive improvements
The $2.5 million project includes reconstruction of the intersection of State Street and Sessom Drive, stabilization of erosive conditions in Sessom Creek and addition of sidewalks from Aquarena Springs Drive to North LBJ Drive. The city expects to complete the reconstruction of State and Sessom before classes begin at Texas State University in late August.

2. FM 1626 improvements
Hays County is working to expand the portion of FM 1626 from FM 2770 in Kyle to FM 967 in Buda. When complete, the road will include two lanes of travel in each direction and a continuous center turn lane. As of July 25, construction was 7 percent complete. Utility companies were nearly finished relocating and splicing their transmission lines to accommodate the expanded road.
Timeline: November 2016-late 2018
3. FM 150 Character Plan
On July 26, Hays County completed the last phase of public input on the FM 150 Character Plan, which seeks to create a plan for how the road will look in the future. Project Engineer Joe Cantalupo said the plan will likely be published by the end of August or early September. Hays County Commissioners Court will then have the option of choosing which projects to begin and when.

4. SH 45 SW construction
In early July contractors completed construction of columns on the Bear Creek bridge as well as a section of utility relocation near Little Bear Creek. When construction on the highway is complete it will connect FM 1626 in Hays County with MoPac in Travis County. The highway, which is being funded by Hays and Travis counties as well as the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority, will feature two lanes in each direction.
Timeline: late 2016-2019
5. Aquarena Springs Drive overpass
When completed, the $20.7 million overpass will feature two travel lanes in each direction as well as access roads on both sides of the overpass. Later this summer or early fall, pre-stressed concrete girders will be set in place, and, once in place, construction on the bridge deck will begin. The project is being funded by the city of San Marcos and the Texas Department of Transportation.
