Collin County, the city of McKinney and McKinney ISD will discuss their proposed fiscal year 2017-18 property tax rates this week.

Collin County to hold budget, tax rate workshops


Collin County Commissioners will hold budget and tax rate workshops Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Jack Hatchell Collin County Administration Building, 2300 Bloomdale Road, McKinney. As needed, commissioners will also meet Wednesday-Friday at 9 a.m. to further discuss the budget and tax rate. An agenda for the budget and tax rate workshops can be found on the county’s website.

Proposed property tax rate discussed at McKinney City Council meeting


The first public hearing on the proposed tax rate for fiscal year 2017-18, which is $0.540199 per $100 property valuation, will take place at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. The proposed rate is an approximate 3 cent decrease compared to the FY 2016-17 property tax rate, which is $0.5730 per $100 property valuation.

Council will also discuss a Chapter 380 agreement between the city and Independent Bank, who is building its new corporate center at Craig Ranch, and the proposed annexation of approximately 218 acres of land. Of the proposed land, 49 acres is located north of CR 857 and east of Custer Road, and 169 acres is northeast of US 380 and New Hope Road.

McKinney ISD presents stadium update, discusses proposed tax rate


McKinney ISD will hold its first work study meeting of the 2017-18 school year at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the MISD Administration Building, 1 Duvall St., McKinney.

Board members will receive an update on the approximately $70 million stadium located at the northeast corner of SH 121 and Hardin Boulevard and also discuss the proposed fiscal year 2017-18 property tax rate.
