The Montgomery County Commissioners Court met Tuesday morning for its regular meeting, approving several initiatives. Agenda items included interlocal agreements with Trinity County for postmortem services, and with The Woodlands Township for sheriff's office services.
  1. Commissioners set the salary, expenses and other allowances for elected county officials for fiscal year 2017-18. County Judge Craig Doyal said there are no raises approved for FY 2017-18.
  2. The court approved an interlocal contract with Trinity County for postmortem autopsy services. The agreement includes a fee schedule outlining the cost of services rendered by the Montgomery County Forensic Services Department on behalf of Trinity County.
  3. Commissioners approved an amendment to an interlocal agreement between the county and The Woodlands Township for Montgomery County Sheriff's Office services. The original agreement was approved Oct. 21, 2016.
  4. Officials approved the purchase of 25 COBAN in-car systems and 29 body worn cameras for $197,565 by Constable Precinct 1. The court also approved the purchase of four vehicles for Constable Precinct 3, and five COBAN in-car systems and three police package vehicles for Constable Precinct 4. All of the purchases were approved during the FY 2017-18 budget workshop.
  5. The court approved $204,060 in funds for right-of-way improvements to FM 1488 between FM 1774 and FM 149. The county is contributing funds to the $3.04 million Texas Department of Transportation project.
  6. Following the meeting, the court convened a public hearing related to the proposed 2017 tax rate. Topics discussed include consideration for budget reductions for the county auditor's office once the proposed county budget office is created. The county auditor currently manages budget-related matters. The Commissioners Court will host a second public hearing Aug. 22 after its regular meeting, and will vote on the proposed tax rate Sept. 5. Montgomery County's 2016 tax rate is $0.466700 per $100 valuation.
