Leander ISD is accepting applications for the Districtwide Educational Improvement Council, which is made up of parents, business and community members, teachers, principals and other district staff.

Committee members advise the district’s board of trustees in establishing and reviewing LISD’s educational goals and objectives, major districtwide classroom programs and approval of districtwide staff development. Applications must be submitted by 8 a.m. Aug. 28.

The district is seeking the following representatives for the council:

  • Parent volunteers — must be a parent of a current LISD student and cannot be employed by the district

  • Community member volunteers — must reside in district, be at least 18 years old, may not be employed by the district, and cannot be a parent of a current Leander ISD student

  • Business representative volunteers — not required to live in the district, nor does their business have to be located in the school district boundaries.


The council meets about seven times a year from 5-6:30 p.m at the Leander Extended Opportunity building, 300 S. West Drive, Leander. The meeting dates for the 2017-18 school year are:

  • Oct. 19

  • Nov. 9

  • Jan. 11

  • Feb. 8

  • March 8

  • April 12
