Student registration in San Marcos CISD begins Monday


Registration for elementary, middle and high school students begins. Registration continues through Aug. 14 for elementary school students and Aug. 15 for middle school students. San Marcos City Council meets Monday night


The council holds a workshop and public hearing Monday at 5:30 p.m. to discuss Code SMTX, the city’s land development code. The meeting takes place at City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins St. The agenda can be viewed here.

The Hays County Commissioners Court meets Tuesday morning


The commissioners meet to discuss the proposed fiscal year 2017-18 Hays County budget. The meeting begins at 9 a.m. and the budget workshop takes place at 10 a.m. The court meets at the Hays County Courthouse, 111 E. San Antonio St., San Marcos. The agenda can be viewed here.

The San Marcos Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday night


The commission will consider granting approval of a rezoning request for 3.553 acres near Rattler Road and Hwy. 123 from duplex restricted to general commercial. The request is part of the Cottonwood Creek master plan and would bring more commercial use to the corridor. The meeting takes place at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 630 E. The Kyle Planning and Zoning Commission meets Tuesday night


Among the items on the commission’s agenda is a rezoning request from single-family to retail services for 0.3 acres at 901 N. Old Hwy. 81. The commission meets at City Hall, 100 W. Center St. The agenda can be viewed here.

Tax-Free Weekend takes place Aug. 11-13
