The Marcel Group is on schedule to finish its latest Katy-area project along Westheimer Parkway between Roesner Road and Saddlespur Lane. Marcel Plaza, a 10.7-acre development with more than 80,000 square feet of retail space, will be complete in the spring, according to Jimbo Homeyer, land and lease acquisition representative for the Marcel Group.
“We have two buildings that are 8,569 square feet, at least one of which is leased to a day care,” he said. “We’re very much in want and need of making the residents [of surrounding neighborhoods] happy.”
The developer also built Marcel Commons—a retail and office complex—across the street. Marcel Plaza began construction in March. Homeyer said the first four or five tenants likely will open simultaneously.
“All of it’s just going to depend on the utilities,” he said.
Marcel Plaza consists of eight separate buildings, including three pad sites between 2,500 and 3,000 square feet, one 36,480-square-foot building, a 7,900-square-foot boutique grocery and the 10,000-square-foot Barbara King Dance studio, Homeyer said.
He confirmed that 9Round kickboxing studio will also open at the shopping center; a Mexican restaurant, a nail salon, a barbershop, a kabob eatery, an ice cream shop, two dentists and a general practitioner family doctor are also expected to open in the plaza.
In addition, 2,905 parking spaces are planned for the site.
