1. Townsen Boulevard expansion
The city of Humble will begin advertising for bids on the expansion of Townsen Boulevard this summer. The roadway will be expanded to four lanes between the northern entrance of the Walmart Supercenter and where the road bends east toward Hwy. 59.

2. Atascocita Road signalization
Harris County Precinct 4 is installing a traffic signal at the intersection of Atascocita Road and Atascocita Bend Drive. The transportation project is a public-private partnership with Elan Development.

Kingwood sidewalk improvements[/caption]3. Kingwood sidewalk improvements
The city of Houston is repairing the north and south sections of the sidewalks along Kingwood Drive between Kingwood High School and West Lake Houston Parkway.

4. Wilson Road expansion
The expansion of Wilson Road between just north of Beltway 8 and Atascocita Road will widen the road from two and three lanes to four lanes. The project is in the design phase and is expected to be bid before the end of the year. The planned construction also will add traffic signals at Greens Road.

5. Kingwood intersection improvements
5A. Construction will begin this summer to establish a designated turn lane and set up traffic signalization at the intersection of West Lake Houston Parkway and Northpark Drive. 5B. Similar traffic flow changes will be made at the intersection of Kings Crossing Drive and West Lake Houston Parkway. The intersection improvements are the first projects from the Kingwood Area Mobility Study.

6. Woodland Hills Drive extension
6A. Woodland Hills Drive was widened from two lanes to four between Beltway 8 and Ridge Creek Elementary School during Phase 1 of construction. 6B. During Phase 2, which will begin during the second quarter of 2017, a new roadway will be constructed between Ridge Creek Elementary and Woodland Path Drive.

Travel-related businesses looking to get their slice of the $68 billion direct travel industry in Texas can participate in the Texas Department of Transportation’s Logo and Directional Signs Program. The blue advertising signs drivers see on the sides of Texas highways are a result of the program.
Business owners can lease space on the signs to place a logo at a cost ranging from $900-$3,250 per year for main lane signs, and $150-$750 per year for ramp signs. The cost is determined by the daily traffic count for the area.
Only travel-related businesses—which include those selling gas, food or lodging; camping sites; 24-hour pharmacies; and those offering at least one primary motorist service—are eligible to participate in the program. Major shopping areas are also allowed to lease individual signs, according to LoneStar Logos & Signs, which partners with TxDOT to offer the Logo and Directional Signs Program.
TxDOT requires that businesses are located no more than 3 miles from an eligible highway.
