Several major lane closures, a public hearing for the Lamar Consolidated ISD bond election and a health fair for seniors are just a few events to know about in the Richmond area this week.
  1. FM 359 southbound lane closure through Aug. 2
The FM 359 southbound lane will be closed continuously starting 9 p.m. Friday, July 28 through 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. The traffic switch will run from River Trace Drive/Shadow Grove Lane to Hwy. 90A.
  1. Blaisdale Road closed through Aug. 2
Eastbound and westbound, Blaisdale Road will be closed continuously starting 9 p.m. Friday, July 28 through 5 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2. To access FM 359 from Blaisdale eastbound, drivers are advised to turn left on River Trace Drive. To access FM 359 from Blaisdale westbound, turn right on River Trace Drive.

The Gulf Coast Blood Center is hosting a blood drive from 2-6:30 p.m. Monday at Fire Station No. 1 in Richmond. Those who donate will receive a Commit For Life beach towel. 200 Houston St., Richmond.

The Fort Bend County Commissioner’s Court will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the historic courthouse in downtown Richmond. Commissioners will discuss a variety of agenda items, including the proposed upcoming $220 million mobility bond slated for November. 601 Jackson St., Richmond.
  1. LCISD bond election public hearing on Tuesday
The Lamar CISD board of trustees will host a public hearing Tuesday, Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m. to allow for public comments on a proposed November bond election. A citizen’s bond advisory committee last met in May to create a recommendation for the bond that the trustees are responsible for reviewing. The Oakbend Medical Center and Oakbend Medical Group will host a health fair for seniors ages 62 and older on Wednesday at the campus off Jackson Street.
