Greenhouse artisan gin is shaken with fresh lemon juice, honey-infused simple syrup and ice to make the $10 Basil Bee’s Knees at the Flying Vine Wine Bar & Bistro in the Boardwalk at Towne Lake in Cypress. The venue gets the gin from a distillery in Dallas where it is distilled with acai berries, General Manager Samuel Melton said.

A basil leaf garnishes the concoction, which is served in a Romana Sambuca-coated martini glass. Melton said the cocktail is a classic British drink.

“We do a lot of old-timey cocktails here that we like to do our own twist on,” Melton said. “All cocktails need balance to be delicious. We strive to find that balance every day.”

Other cocktails on the menu are versions of the Mai Tai, Old Fashioned, Sidecar and French 75, along with 25 craft beer options and 115 wine labels.

Flying Vine chefs channel southern and Cajun inspirations from fried green tomatoes to crawfish pot pie.
