2. Battle of the Badges begins


We are Blood's 10th annual blood drive competition Battle of the Badges starts Saturday and runs through July 8. Austinites who donate blood can vote for the City of Austin’s Fire Department, Police Department or Austin-Travis County EMS. The department with the most votes will be declared the winner and receive a trophy. Blood donors will receive a limited-edition T-shirt. Donate at at any of We Are Blood’s three donation locations (South Austin, North Lamar Boulevard and Round Rock) and at any designated mobile drives throughout Travis County from July 5 to July 7. www.weareblood.org

3. KittyPalooza returns

5. Visit the Bob Bullock Museum for free


Hosted by H-E-B, families can explore the Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum at no cost every first Sunday of the month. Special family programs from noon-3 p.m. combine art creation, exploration stations and gallery activities.
