Starting Saturday, the Cedar Park Police Department will launch its second campaign to increase DWI enforcement in the last two months.
From June 24-July 5, the police department will increase patrol presence on local roadways to discourage and monitor for impaired driving violations as part of the ongoing regional Selective Traffic Enforcement Program initiative. The program focuses on local law enforcement raising awareness of a traffic violation, such as speeding, not wearing a seat belt or driving under the influence. The initiative will cover the peak July 4 holiday travel period.
“Retain your independence this Fourth of July. Drive sober,” states a release from the police department.
During the first campaign, May 22-June 4, Cedar Park police officers worked a total of 21.5 hours and made two DWI arrests.
