HB 1449  was signed by the governor May 29, immediately prohibiting  localities from adopting or enforcing fees on new construction to offset the cost of rent of residential housing.

Campbell's Senate Bill 715 was filibustered before a crucial Senate deadline. The bill would have allowed areas being annexed to vote prior to the process taking place.

HB 394, which designates the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas at Austin as the state botanical garden and arboretum, passed both chambers. The governor signed the bill and it is effective Sept. 1.
