The Lohmann’s Ford Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution National Society, Lakeway residents, guests and dignitaries honored the American flag today with a ceremony at the city’s Heritage Center Park, 963 Lohmans Crossing Road.

The first American flag was adopted by the U.S. Continental Congress on June 14, 1777, guest speaker retired Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard T. Drury said. Through the years, the flag and U.S. patriotism has been tested but the resolve to honor our flag remains strong, he said.

Participants also joined in for a resounding Pledge of Allegiance and Star Spangled Banner and left the gathering with a reminder of how patriotism is celebrated in the U.S.
