In addition to a Flag Day celebration, Tomball and Magnolia residents can attend several public meetings this week.

Tomball ISD will swear in Lee McLeod to the board of trustees during a workshop meeting tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the John P. Neubauer Administration Building. McLeod is appointed to serve until Nov. 6, 2018, replacing former board member Lisa Nicholas who resigned in April. The TISD board will also host a budget workshop and hear recommendations from a community committee regarding facility needs to be included in a possible bond referendum in November, should the district decide to call for a bond election. A regular meeting of the board of trustees follows Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. in the John P. Neubauer Administration Building, located at 310 S. Cherry St., Tomball.

Montgomery County Commissioners Court will consider a resolution in support of the Tomball Tollway extension into Montgomery County. The court meets at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Alan B. Sadler Commissioners Court Building, 501 North Thompson St., Ste. 402, Conroe. Harris County Commissioners Court meets at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 13, at the Harris County Administration Building, 1001 Preston St., Houston. City officials from Magnolia are expected to attend the meeting.

For Tomball residents wishing to learn more about proposed amendments to the city of Houston's Major Thoroughfare and Freeway Plan, the city of Houston and Harris County officials host an open house 5:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at the United Way Community Resource Center, located at 50 Waugh Drive, Houston. The plan proposes widening and realigning nine Tomball-area roads, including Brown Road.

Residents can attend a Flag Day event at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, at 108 Buvinghausen St., Tomball. The event, presented by Bulgawicz Law Firm, includes a presentation on the history of the U.S. flag, a ceremonial flag folding by Tomball Rotary Club members and a formal flag disposal ceremony.
