Alvin Community College launched a partnership with the University of Houston-Clear Lake to offer courses at the university's Pearland campus. The partnership, which is slated to debut on Aug. 21, will provide university students access to freshman- and sophomore-level classes such as college algebra, English composition, macroeconomics, general psychology and U.S history. "We are excited about partnering with Alvin Community College as they offer classes at UHCL Pearland Campus this fall,” UHCL President Bill Staples said in a statement. “We have a long-standing relationship with ACC who has partnered with UHCL since we opened our doors in 1974, and we look forward to enhancing our partnership even further to expand student access to higher education.” In addition to a partnership with UHCL Pearland, ACC will simultaneously begin offering college courses at Shadow Creek High School. Only evening classes will be offered at the high school for both college and dual credit students. “We are very excited to be able to offer classes convenient to Pearland residents in two locations,” ACC President Christal Albrecht said in a statement. “Both of these locations will bring higher education closer to those in our taxing district and service area."
