The Players Theatre Company portrays this classic musical directed by Mary Yost, which retells the story of the story of Romeo and Juliet in the midst of warring street gangs. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Presented by CYT Houston, this musical tells the story of Caractacus Potts, an inventor dedicated to restoring an old race car with the help of his children, Jeremy and Jemima, before discovering the car has magical abilities. This weekend marks the opening performance of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, which will run each weekend through May 28. 9:30 a.m. & 7 p.m. (May 19), 2 p.m. & 7 p.m. (May 20), 2 p.m. (May 21). Potluck lunch and bingo day
May 19
Participants bring a dish of their choice to contribute to the potluck lunch and then play bingo afterward to compete for prizes. The event takes place the third Friday of every month and participants are encouraged to donate miscellaneous items to be used as future prizes. 12:15-2 p.m. Free. Lone Star Animal Welfare League’s Fixing MOCO Program

As a part of its Fixing MOCO program, the Lone Star Animal Welfare League offers low-cost spay and neuters for local pets in need. For only $20, families can receive a voucher and make an appointment to get their animal spayed or neutered. Only 120 vouchers will be available at the event and vouchers are limited to two per household. Low cost vaccines, heartworm tests and free ID tags will also be available. 9 a.m.-noon. $20.
