Humble ISD elections

Four positions on the Humble ISD school board were up for grabs May 6. The three incumbent candidates—Robert Sitton for Position 1, Angela Conrad in Position 3 and Charles Cunningham in Position 4— will return to the school board, according to unofficial early voting results from Harris County. They will be joined by Position 5 candidates Martina Dixon.

Pension reform takes shape

The city of Houston will begin budget workshops on Tuesday, where a major topic will be pension reform. The workshops conclude May 23.

The Texas House and Senate versions of the city of Houston’s pension reform legislation—Senate Bill 2190 and House Bill 43—are still moving through the legislative process. SB 2190 passed the Senate last week, while HB 43 is awaiting a vote by the full body. Should pension reform fail, it could result in a $300 million budget shortfall, Houston Council Member Dave Martin.

Kingwood TIRZ board to update Northpark Drive

The Kingwood Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone 10 will provide an update to the status of projects within the Kingwood Mobility Study, including the expansion of Northpark Drive. The discussions will include an update of the city of Houston’s decision to shift $18 million in funds earmarked for Kingwood Drive's expansion to Northpark Drive.
