May 5-6: Backyard BBQ Cook-Off & Family Festival
The Brushy Creek Municipal Utility District hosts its 2017 barbecue cookoff. The event starts Friday night with live music and a showing of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" in the park. On Saturday, activities continue with more live music, children's entertainment and the main cookoff event. 6 p.m. (Fri.), noon-8 p.m. (Sat.). Free (admission). May 6: Muddy Miler Family Adventure

May 6: Blackland Prairie Days

May 6: Pioneer Days
