The city of McKinney announced the hiring of a new assistant city manager Tuesday. This position has been vacant since Rob Daake left in 2016. Steve Tilton, the current assistant village manager in Tinley Park, Illinois, will start May 30, according to a city news release. “Steve brings a good mix of experience, skills, character and strong servant leadership to his new role as our assistant city manager,” City Manager Paul Grimes said in the release. “He will be a great addition to the leadership team in our dynamic and fast-moving community.” Tilton has more than 15 years of municipal government experience and has supervised multiple departments, including fire and police, information technology and human resources. As assistant city manager, Tilton will provide executive management for several city departments, including public works and parks and recreation.
