Round Rock’s newest Chick-fil-A will open May 4, bringing 90 new jobs to its location at 305 University Blvd. The restaurant is owned by Texas native and local franchise owner Jared Johnson.
“My team members and I can’t wait to serve the Round Rock community,” Johnson said. “We’re not just in the chicken business, we’re in the people business. Our goal is to grow our employees in leadership and purpose so they will provide our customers with a remarkable experience every time they visit. We want to serve freshly prepared food with healthy options that guests can truly feel good about eating and provide sincere hospitality.”
Grand opening events at the new restaurant begin on May 3.
A family-friendly overnight First 100 party will be held in the parking lot of the restaurant before the grand opening. The first 100 adults through the door win a year of Chick-fil-A meals. A tradition going back more than 13 years, Chick-fil-A’s First 100 celebration has given away more than $31 million in free meals and continues to be the chain’s signature grand opening event. Rain, snow and extreme temperatures below zero or above 100 have not deterred Chick-fil-A fans who arrive with tents, chairs, TVs and computers.
Each participant hopes to win a digital offer card loaded with a one-year supply of free Chick-fil-A meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich, medium waffle potato fries and a medium beverage) that will be awarded to the first 100 eligible adults—ages 18 and older with identification—in line when the doors open at 6 a.m. on May 4. If more than 100 people are onsite when the line officially opens at 6 a.m. on May 3, a drawing will be held to randomly select the First 100. Those chosen will be required to camp out until the grand opening in order to secure their spot.
Johnson will apply his passion for service to the Round Rock community by providing the funding and asking his First 100 guests to pack 10,000 meals for the Central Texas Table of Grace on the afternoon of Wed., May 3. The event supports Feeding Children Everywhere, a social charity that empowers and mobilizes people to assemble healthy meals for hungry children.
First 100 guests and customers are also invited to support the children’s book drive being held during the grand opening week to benefit the McLane Children’s Hospital. The donated books will be placed in a nearly 3-foot Book House, made from reclaimed wood, to serve as a free library exchange. Since 2014, Chick-fil-A has collected more than 41,177 books that have been donated to 241 local organizations in 43 states and Washington, D.C.
