The McKinney ISD board of trustees approved a new compensation plan for teachers and employees at Tuesday night’s regular board meeting.

With this plan, MISD employees will receive a 3 percent raise based upon the midpoint pay range for their position. This will go into effect for the 2017-18 school year.

This compensation plan will help MISD stay competitive with nearby school districts, MISD Superintendent Rick McDaniel said in a news release.

For current MISD teachers, this plan is a $1,750 flat raise, according to documents from MISD. The plan will also increase the starting salary for a new teacher by $1,450, a raise from $50,900 to $52,350.

This is the fourth-consecutive year the board has raised employee salaries by 3 percent or more, according to the release.
