The Ironman triathlon will pass through the Spring area this weekend, and other community events in the area include the Relay for Life walk and an animal rescue group fundraiser.

 Memorial Hermann Texas Ironman

The annual triathlon begins with a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Woodlands beginning at Northshore Park, followed by a 112-mile bike race and a 26.2-mile run taking place throughout The Woodlands and its surrounding areas. 5 a.m.-11 p.m. $710-$795. Relay For Life ‘Cruise for a Cure’

Relay For Life is a nonathletic community event to raise funds for the mission of the American Cancer Society, which seeks to save lives, celebrate lives and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Cirque-tacular

Paws for a Cause

Postponed from an earlier date, this annual pet adoption and rescue awareness event is sponsored by Better Homes & Gardens Real Estate Gary Greene. Proceeds collected from sponsors and contributors will be donated directly to area rescue groups in Klein, Tomball and Spring.

Attractions include food trucks, music, face painting, a silent auction and shopping. Pet-related activities include adoptions, low-cost vaccinations, expert pet advice and pet chipping.
