Pearland ISD trustees approved the design plans for the reconstruction and additions to Dawson High School, Junior High West School and Sablatura Middle School during the regular March 21 meeting.

Dawson High will see a two-story classroom addition, a cafe and commons area, renovations to the culinary arts lab, expansion of the athletics training room, a new multipurpose room and a dance hall among other renovations.

Approved Junior High West improvements include outdoor cafeteria seating, renovations to the auditorium, a new tennis court and track fields, and building upgrades. Sablatura Middle improvements include a new band hall, new flooring, additional science classrooms and a security vestibule.

The district selected three construction managers at-risk to oversee its 2016 bond-funded projects.

The construction is related to the 2016 bond election, where voters approved a $220 million bond package.
