The Texas Department of Transportation broke ground in July on an FM 1097 expansion project between I-45 and Hwy. 75 in Willis. The project will expand the roadway from two to four lanes and add a continuous left-turn lane. The project includes new sidewalks. Construction is about 65 percent complete.

FM 1488 widening
A widening project expanding FM 1488 from two to four lanes from FM 149 to just past Community Road is 62 percent complete. The project also includes construction of a railroad overpass on FM 1488 near the FM 149 intersection over the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks, making it possible for commuters to cross the railroad tracks without interruption.

FM 149 improvements
TxDOT is working on a 13-month resurface and repair project on 10 miles of FM 149 between FM 1791 and FM 1097, north of Montgomery. The project will also add a 5-foot-wide shoulder throughout the length of roadway and is intended to improve traffic safety throughout the area. The project is about 50 percent complete but is on hiatus while nearby utilities are relocated.

FM 3083 railroad overpass
TxDOT has undertaken a project that will widen FM 3083 from two to four lanes east of Hwy. 75 to just west of Stewarts Creek, and build a bridge over the Union Pacific Corp. railroad tracks in Conroe. The agency has already widened FM 3083 in a separate project from I-45 to the starting location of the overpass bridge. The project has reached 30 percent completion.

Hwy. 105 improvement project
The city of Conroe started construction on a Hwy. 105 improvement project Oct. 10. The project is 34 percent complete and will add a raised median throughout the roadway from I-45 to Frazier Street. The median will limit left-hand turns to designated intersections for transit safety purposes. Construction includes sidewalks on each side of the roadway.
