Transportation updates

1. Covington Woods improvements

Construction crews are working to improve drainage in Covington Woods by installing new drainage pipelines and new water lines. Work is being done on Baytree and Ivymount drives between Maygrove and Hitherfield drives in Sugar Land. The seven-month project should be completed in the fall.

Timeline: February-September

2. Town Center Boulevard lane closures

Lanes going in both directions are closed on Town Center Boulevard between Hwy. 6 and East Mall Ring Road in Sugar Land until late March so work crews can add a concrete side path. As part of the project, a pedestrian crossing was added to the boulevard in front of City Hall. A flashing light was installed at the crossing to alert drivers to pedestrians, and a speed table—a raised patch of asphalt that functions like a long speed bump to slow traffic—was also installed.

Timeline: Jan. 4-late March

Work is nearing completion on the extension of Hurricane Lane north from Trammel Fresno Road to connect with Senior Road. The project is 90 percent complete, according to Cory Stottlemyer, Missouri City’s media relations specialist.
