1. FM 1960 Business Improvements


Texas Department of Transportation completed work on FM 1960 Business in February. The project included the resurfacing of FM 1960 Business west of Hwy. 59. The project also included construction of medians and sidewalks from Lee to Old Humble Roads in Humble as well as drainage and intersection upgrades along the 8.2-mile stretch.

Transportation Beltway 8 widening[/caption]

2. Beltway 8 widening


TxDOT is widening Beltway 8 between John F. Kennedy Boulevard and the Hardy Toll Road. The project includes adding an auxiliary lane in both directions and moving the westbound Aldine Westfield exit ramp backward. Auxiliary lanes are temporary additional lanes located at busy interchanges, freeway entrances and freeway exits.


Timeline: June 2016-early 2018
Cost: $26.8 million
Funding sources: TxDOT



3. West Lake Houston Parkway intersection improvement


Harris County Precinct 2 began construction in January on a West Lake Houston Parkway extending two existing left-turn lanes as well as adding an additional left-turn lane for drivers heading northbound to turn westbound onto Will Clayton Parkway.

4. Sorters McClellan Road expansion


Montgomery County is surveying the topography for the expansion of Sorters McClellan Road from two to four lanes between Kingwood Drive and FM 1314. The project also includes turn lanes at major intersections and drainage improvements. Improvements to Sorters McClellan Road will be funded through the 2015 Montgomery county road bond.

5. Woodland Hills Drive extension


Construction on Phase 1 of the extension of Woodlands Hills Drive began in October. The road will be widened from two lanes to four between Beltway 8 and Ridge Creek Elementary School. During Phase 2, which will begin during the second quarter of 2017, a new roadway will be constructed between Ridge Creek Elementary and Woodland Path Drive.

Cost: $8.1 million

6. Northpark Drive expansion


The Lake Houston Redevelopment Authority is designing the expansion of Northpark Drive in Kingwood. The project will add a lane on each side of the road from Loop 494 to Woodland Hills Drive with an overpass at the railroad tracks. A study commissioned by the LHRA estimates drivers will save eight minutes per drive during peak traffic times.


Timeline: Construction begins in 2020
Cost: $55 million
Funding sources: LHRA, Montgomery County, TxDOT, private developers, Harris County precincts 2 and 4




Transportation Wilson Road expansion[/caption]

7. Wilson Road expansion


The expansion of Wilson Road between just north of Beltway 8 and Atascocita Road will enhance the road from two and three lanes to four and include traffic signalization at Greens Road. The project will be bid in early 2017.
