Conroe City Council convened Thursday to vote on issues raised during Wednesday’s workshop meeting. Here's what happened:
- City Council approved a resolution to withhold payment of the 2017 increase in the Lone Star Groundwater Conservation District water use fee.
The district raised its rates from 0.06 cents to 0.075 cents per 1,000 gallons as of Jan. 1. The city has ongoing litigation challenging the LSGCD and its implementation of groundwater regulations in Montgomery County.
- The city approved a resolution authorizing Montgomery County Municipal Utility District No. 92 to issue a series of unlimited tax bonds in the amount of $1,500,000.
The MUD covers portions of the Hidden Creek subdivision and surrounding area in the city of Conroe.
- Officials approved a $6.5 million contract for Triple B Services to move forward with construction of M.P. Clark Road.
The road will extend north of League Line Road and provide access to a planned Willis ISD elementary school. Construction is expected to start by May and take about 300 days to complete.
- The city passed a resolution supporting the creation of Montgomery County Municipal Utility Districts Nos. 157 and 158.
The resolution does not create the MUDs; rather it shows consent from the city for the MUDs to seek creation from the state Legislature .The MUDS would serve portions of Conroe near Hwy. 242 adjacent to Houston Methodist Hospital.
