At the Thursday night Round Rock City Council meeting,  council members finalized a deal with Williamson County to house EMS crews at three fire stations throughout the city. The deal was enacted so county emergency services could more effectively respond to locations close to stations. As part of the deal, crews will be given lodging, office space and a covered bay for their ambulance. Participating stations include Fire Station No. 3 at 1991 Rawhide Drive, Fire Station No. 5 at 350 Deepwood Drive and Fire Station No. 8 at 1612 Red Bud Lane. If the city and county desire to extend this agreement to additional stations, they can do so without additional votes from each governing body, according to the agreement. The deal is in place for five years or until a time that either Williamson County or Round Rock terminates the agreement. Round Rock Mayor Alan McGraw expressed excitement at this new relationship. "This interlocal agreement is a great opportunity for agencies to share taxpayer resources," he said. "The effect of it is that citizens get better service for a smaller cost. "
