The Cedar Park Chamber of Commerce could have a future home inside Cedar Park Town Center.
The chamber is looking to lease 1.396 acres from the city of Cedar Park to construct its new headquarters. The future building would sit south of the detention pond and the Cedar Park Recreation Center.
The chamber is located off RM 1431 behind Torchy’s Tacos.
Cedar Park City Council heard a lease proposal for the property Jan. 26. The proposed lease term was for 50 years, or for 25 years with a 25-year renewal, for $1 per year. Ownership of the building would transfer to the city upon the expiration of the lease.
“We have an excellent working relationship with the chamber,” Cedar Park Mayor Matt Powell said. “This is about as concrete a way of demonstrating a commitment to that partnership, so in a larger way I like what this symbolizes.”
The council approved the lease documents with the stipulation that the city could sign off on the final design, and development activities should begin within five years of lease commencement, with an extension available if needed.
Chamber President Tony Moline said the new building would hold the chamber office and meeting space. He said the chamber does not yet have a set timeline, but receiving approval from the council was a good first step forward.
