What we reported In September, Costco, one of the country’s largest wholesale shopping chains, confirmed plans to come to Pflugerville.

Living Spaces, a California-based furniture retailer, will build a massive distribution and retail center in Pflugerville.

The Living Spaces deal is one of the largest economic development projects in Pflugerville’s history.
Pflugerville may also be getting its first hospital, as the city and a medical provider have been in discussions regarding a Pflugerville location. Pflugerville City Council approved a 148.55-acre planned unit development in October that cleared the way for negotiations and design for a hospital to begin. The property is located at the northeast corner of SH 130 and East Pflugerville Parkway, adjacent to the Falcon Pointe neighborhood.

The latest A location has to be selected by Costco and a development agreement negotiated with the city of Pflugerville before construction can begin. Living Spaces has purchased the 60-acre tract of land at the southwest corner of SH 45 and Heatherwilde Boulevard. City Council and Pflugerville Community Development Corp.  continue to work on a development agreement among the city, the PCDC and an unnamed health provider for the new hospital.

What’s next There has been little advancement on the Costco project.
Since the specific-use permit has been obtained by Living Spaces, the design phase of the project can move forward. No date has been set for construction to begin on the 650,000-square-foot project.

On Jan. 10, Community Impact Newspaper announced Baylor Scott & White will build and operate the new hospital.
