The holidays are over, but there are still plenty of events happening around the city of Austin. Here's a sampling of what the second week of January has to offer in and nearby Southwest Austin.

Beginner's Salsa Thursdays
Impulso Dance Academy's Beginner's Salsa Thursdays classes are free. The unique approach to teaching aims for students to have a quick mastering of salsa techniques. Every Firkin Friday
Strange Land Brewery hosts its new series, "Every Firkin Friday" with special beer firkins changing every week. Guests can try the limited release Raspberry Aged Alt or choose from an array of seasonal and mainstay beers on draft. Hungry patrons can order food from neighboring Hat Creek Burgers Co. Recordkeeping: Beyond the File Cabinet
Taught by a University of Texas instructor, the class counts toward the six-course requirement needed to earn a Business Skills Certification, and covers what records to create, how long to keep them and how to use the information to grow a business. 9 a.m.-4 p.m. $50. Hosted by the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center, families work as teams and independently to compete in various mental and physical challenges in the family garden.
