The Collin County Commissioners Court met Monday afternoon and began official discussions on its list of legislative priorities. The list, which is still a work in progress, includes topics such as mental health funding, transportation funding, public safety, property tax reform and state funding for special prosecutors in statewide cases. Also discussed during today's meeting were potential priorities such as possible changes to the justice of the peace that could result in additional court cases and a need for more employees. Newly appointed Collin County Sheriff Jim Skinner presented his concerns to the court today as lawmakers consider changes to the state's Chapter 59 code regarding asset forfeiture. The court will meet again Jan. 23 with an updated list and County Judge Keith Self said Commissioners will approve the final list this month.
