If you are trying to get in and out of McKinney during your holiday shopping sprees, you might want to take a look at some ongoing regional projects to help you plan a better route. Although those red and green lights might match your holiday decor, they could be avoided.

US 380 widening

Construction is 99 percent complete to widen US 380 from Lovers Lane to Custer Road. US 380 is being widened to a six-lane divided roadway. In the meantime, construction continues to widen the roadway from Lovers Lane to CR 26, which will also be six lanes. The Lovers Lane to Custer Road portion of the project is set to wrap this month and is slated to cost $19.6 million. The Lovers Lane to CR 26 portion will wrap December 2018 and is set to cost $58 million. The total project is funded by the Texas Department of Transportation.

FM 423 widening

Construction continues to widen FM 423 from Eldorado Parkway to US 380. The project, which is more than halfway complete, will widen the road to six lanes. The project is set to wrap in July 2018, is slated to cost $28.4 million and is funded by TxDOT.

Coit Road and Westridge Boulevard construction

Construction to extend Coit Road to Rockhill Parkway and widen Westridge Boulevard is 70 percent complete. The Coit Road extension will be four lanes, and Westridge Boulevard is being widened to four lanes. The project is set to be complete in March 2017 and will cost Collin County and the city of Frisco $5.7 million.
