The Plano City Council meets Monday at 7 p.m. at the Plano Municipal Center, 1520 K Ave. The meeting will begin with several presentations, including one on the Plano Public Library System, which will receive a large donation from the Friends of the Plano Public Library organization. The city of Plano will also be presented with awards from the National Procurement Institute, the Texas State Comptroller’s Office, and the Government Finance Officers Association. One item is on the meeting's regular agenda, which includes a public hearing and review of the city’s Consolidated Annual Performance Evaluation Report. The report describes the city’s use of federal funds, specifically from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, to show how those funds have been spent during the 2015-16 grant year. The city of Plano will host an Arbor Day Celebration Dec. 14 at 1:30 p.m. at Longhorn Park, 1100-1198 Colgate Place, Plano, near Jackson Elementary School. The celebration will include a tree parade, songs, reader’s theater play, poetry readings and the Tree City USA Award.

The city of Plano’s Parks and Recreation Department is hosting its second Urban Forest Master Plan meeting on Dec. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Pecan Hollow Golf Course, 4901 E. 14th Street, Plano. This plan will help manage public trees in Plano over the next 25 years.

The North Texas Performing Arts presents "Scrooge the Musical" Dec. 15-18. The musical follows the plot of the Charles Dicken’s book, “A Christmas Carol,” in which the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge undergoes a profound experience of redemption on Christmas Eve. The performance will be held at the Courtyard Theatre, 1509 Avenue H, Plano, on Dec. 15-17 at 7:15 p.m. and Dec. 17-18 at 2:15 p.m. Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at www.planochildrenstheatre.org
