Shredding on the Go won the award for Small Business of the Year representing LSC-University Park.[/caption]On Nov. 17, the Lone Star College Small Business Development Center Advisory Council announced six businesses, one representing each campus, as winners of the Small Business of the Year Award.
Winners include:
- LSC-CyFair: Mathnasium of Cy-Fair—John and Dr. Catherine Labuda
- LSC-Kingwood: Minuteman Press—Connie and Darryal Chandler
- LSC-Montgomery: Better Bookkeepers—Melanie Bush and Barry Blanton
- LSC-North Harris: Mirror Lake Designs—Michael Shawn and Blinda Ann Kelly
- LSC-Tomball: Massage Envy Tomball and Teas Crossing—Mack and Michelle Miller
- LSC-University Park: Shredding on the Go—James Parker
The winner representing LSC-CyFair, Mathnasium of Cy-Fair, was nominated as a finalist in 2015 as well. This year, Mathnasium was nominated alongside AAA Plumbing and Nightlight Pediatric Urgent Care.
The event culminated with a recognition of Sal Mira, SBDC's director of 10 years, who will retire in January. LSCS officials announced a scholarship endowment created in his honor by the LSCS Office of External Affairs, the LSCS SBDC and SBDC Advisory Council.
This year of awards marked the 30th year of the banquet. The event was hosted by BBVA Compass Bank at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.
