Harris County Sheriff’s Office Willowood substation at 7614 Fallbrook Drive celebrated an expansion last week. The expansion of the 10-year-old facility includes four new offices, eight more work spaces, a workbench and a new conference room. “Fifteen years ago I had a vision of the property, and I said we will build a fire station where the bays open into the main street of the Willowood subdivisions,” said Rick Mann, general manager of Harris County Water Control Improvement District No. 133. Mann is also a Klein ISD board member. Mann said the sheriff’s department needed the expansion due to crowding within the facility, which Harris County WCID uses for its meetings. Mann estimates the cost of the expansion to be about $200,000. It was funded through property taxes, he said. “We have been committed to the sheriff’s department over the years,” Mann said. “They are just absolutely floored that [WCID] could provide [the expansion] for them.”
