Kevin RobertsKevin Roberts, TX District 126

Top Priorities: During his campaign, Roberts focused on property tax relief, public safety and security, small businesses, economic growth and public infrastructure maintenance. 


Background: Kevin Roberts grew up and raised his own family in Texas. He has more than 25 years of experience in executive management and leadership roles. Most recently, he served as executive director and chief operating officer at The Lanier Law Firm.


Roberts serves on the Houston Northwest Chamber of Commerce’s Public Policy Council, Grow Northwest Committee, the Economic Development Council, the Klein ISD Career and Technical Education Advisory Council, the board of directors for the D. Bradley McWilliams YMCA at Cypress Creek and the Houston Realty Business Coalition.

Tom OliversonTom Oliverson, TX District 130

Top Priorities: During his campaign, Oliverson focused on border control, protecting the unborn, promoting free markets, property taxes, economic growth and property rights, second amendment rights, education reform and religious freedom.


Background: A practicing anesthesiologist, Tom Oliverson partners in U.S. Anesthesia Partners, the largest group of its kind in Texas. The small-business owner believes that small businesses are the engines of America’s economy.


He and his wife were appointed to Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick’s Inaugural Committee, and he volunteers with organizations such as Boy Scouts of America and Family Life Ministries. He and his family are active members of Jersey Village Baptist Church.

Mike SchofieldMike Schofield, TX District 132

Top Priorities: Schofield reports his top issues on his campaign website as controlling the border, cutting government spending, reducing Texans’ tax burden, providing for cost-effective education and helping to create jobs.

Background: Schofield is entering his second term as a Texas Representative, having served his first term in the 2015 legislature. Previously, he worked as Gov. Rick Perry’s attorney and advisor.

Gary Elkins

 

Gary Elkins, TX District 135

Top Priorities: Elkins says his top priorities when returning to the capital include traffic congestion, border security, local control in schools and property tax reduction.

Background: Gary Elkins has served state District 135 since 1995. He serves as the chairman of the Committee on Technology and sits on the Committee on Urban Affairs. Elkins resides in Jersey Village.

U.S. House of Representatives


John CulbersonJohn Culberson, U.S. District 7

Top Priorities: Culberson lists his priorities as growing the economy, protecting his constituents’ health care, improving Houston transportation and strengthening NASA.


Background: Culberson considers himself a “Jeffersonian Republican” with his views of limited government, individual liberty and states rights. First elected in 2000, Culberson has served as a member of the House Appropriations Committee and as Chairman of the CJS Subcommittee, which oversees the Department of Commerce, the Department of Justice, NASA, the National Science Foundation and other related industries.


Culberson is an alumnus of Southern Methodist University and earned his law degree from South Texas College of Law. He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives as a law student, before serving 14 years.

Kevin BradyKevin Brady, U.S. District 8

Top Priorities: While Brady does not list his top priorities, he does mention the economy is the No. 1 issue on the minds of may Americans. Brady champions free market solutions while opposing the stimulus.


Background: Brady currently serves as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee over taxes, health care, Social Security and Medicare. Prior to his election to Congress, Brady worked as a chamber of commerce executive. Brady currently lives in Montgomery County with his wife and two sons.

Michael McCaulMichael McCaul, U.S. District 10

Top Priorities: McCaul stated his top two legislative priorities included reflecting the will of the constituency and pressing for policy that keeps his constituents safe and the laws of the land enforced without the government interfering.


Background: McCaul has served six terms in the House for U.S. District 10, which stretches from Austin to the Houston suburbs and includes nine counties. McCaul served as Chairman of the House Committee on Homeland Security and prioritizes border security as a national security issue.


Prior to  his time in Congress, McCaul served as Texas Deputy Attorney General under U.S. Senator John Cornyn and as a federal prosecutor in the Department of Justice’s Public Integrity Section in Washington, D.C.
